Gypsum
Gypsum is a mineral composed of calcium sulphate dihydrate (CaSO₄·2H₂O).
It is a naturally occurring mineral found in sedimentary rock formations worldwide.
Gypsum forms through the evaporation of water containing dissolved calcium and sulphate, making it abundant in large, flat, and extensive deposits.
Known for its versatility and wide range of uses, gypsum has been utilised for thousands of years in various industries.
Type of Gypsum
Mineral gypsum comes in several forms, each with unique characteristics that determine its suitability for different applications.
Natural gypsum is mined directly from the earth and is primarily used in the construction industry for products like plaster, drywall, and cement.
Synthetic gypsum is a byproduct of industrial processes such as flue gas desulfurization, which captures sulphur dioxide emissions from power plants. This type of gypsum is chemically identical to natural gypsum and is commonly used in the same applications.
Limestone
Limestone, a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) in the form of the mineral calcite, is abundant and versatile. It forms primarily in shallow, warm marine environments through the accumulation of shell, coral, algal, and faecal debris. Over millions of years, these materials undergo compaction and cementation to form limestone deposits. This abundance of limestone reassures us of its availability for diverse needs across multiple industries, making it one of the most widely used minerals due to its durability and varied applications.
Type of Limestone
Limestone comes in various types, each defined by its formation, composition, and physical characteristics.
Chalk is a soft, porous form of limestone composed mainly of the microscopic remains of marine organisms. It is often used in agriculture to adjust soil pH and as a mild abrasive in products like toothpaste.
Travertine forms in hot springs and limestone caves through rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate. Its distinctive appearance and durability make it a popular choice for construction and decorative applications, such as flooring and countertops.
Fossiliferous limestone contains visible fossils of marine organisms and is prized both for its aesthetic appeal and historical significance.
Coquina is a type of limestone composed almost entirely of shell fragments, often used as a building material in areas where it is abundant.
Crystalline limestone is a more dense and durable form of limestone, often used in construction and industrial applications due to its strength and resilience.
Lime
Lime is a calcium-containing inorganic mineral primarily composed of oxides and hydroxides, most commonly calcium oxide (CaO) and calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂). The term “lime” broadly refers to calcium-based materials in which oxides, hydroxides, and carbonates of calcium predominate, along with smaller amounts of magnesium, silicon, aluminium, and iron compounds. Historically, lime has been widely used in construction, particularly in mortar applications, where its binding properties provide strength and durability.
Our Lime Products
Calcined Lime (Quicklime)
Calcium oxide (CaO), commonly known as quicklime or burnt lime, is a widely used chemical compound. It appears as a white, caustic, alkaline, crystalline solid at room temperature. Quicklime is produced through the calcination of limestone and is extensively utilized in steel manufacturing, water treatment, construction, chemical processing, and environmental applications.
Hydrated Lime (Slaked Lime)
Calcium hydroxide, traditionally referred to as slaked lime, has the chemical formula Ca(OH)₂. It is a fine white powder produced when quicklime (calcium oxide) is carefully mixed with water in a controlled process known as slaking. Hydrated lime is commonly used in water and wastewater treatment, soil stabilization, flue gas treatment, and construction applications.
Dolomitic Lime
Dolomitic lime is characterized by its high magnesium content, typically containing 35–46% magnesium carbonate (ASTM C59-91). It is derived from dolomitic limestone and is valued for applications requiring both calcium and magnesium content, including steel production, agriculture, and soil conditioning.
Chromite
Chromium is one of the hardest naturally occurring elements, prized for its strength, corrosion resistance, and high melting point. This valuable element is not found freely in nature; it is primarily obtained from the mineral chromite.
Through melting chromite in electric arc furnaces and subsequent processing, ferrochrome—an alloy of chromium and iron—is produced. Ferrochrome is a critical raw material for stainless steel and other specialized alloys.
Bauxite
Bauxite is the primary ore of aluminium and the world’s most significant source of this essential metal. Due to its occurrence near the earth’s surface, it is typically extracted through open-pit (strip) mining methods.
Bauxite is commercially classified based on its end use, including metallurgical, abrasive, cement, chemical, and refractory applications. In addition to being the principal raw material for aluminium production, bauxite also serves as an important source of the rare metal gallium.

Iron Ore
Iron ore is the primary mineral source of iron, the world’s most widely used metal and the most naturally magnetic element. Approximately 98% of all mined iron ore is utilized in the production of steel, making it one of the most economically significant commodities in the global market.
In the steelmaking process, iron ore is combined with various alloying elements such as tungsten, manganese, nickel, and chromium to enhance strength, durability, and hardness. The resulting steel grades are fundamental to nearly every major industry, including construction, automotive manufacturing, infrastructure development, machinery, and energy.
Given its critical role in industrial growth and global development, iron ore remains a cornerstone of modern economies worldwide.
